Community Gardens

All Gardens have tasks specific to their location and are assigned by the committee chair. Planting annuals in the spring, dividing plants as necessary, mulching and fertilizing are some of the activities for various gardens. Weekly watering, maintenance, dead heading may be done as needed. Fall cutting and cleanup finishes off the garden duties.

Festival Square

In recent years, Seedums Garden Club (SGC) has provided planting support to the Festival Square "rounds" that align the area on Main Street. Each year SGC members contribute time and labor to plant perennials and annuals beautifying the focal point of the area activities including Farmer's Market and various concerts.

Herb Garden

Basil, lavender, pineapple sage, oregano, and parsley are some of the herbs grown in the garden adjoining the Cheboygan History Center.

Opera House

Maintaining the surrounding grounds at the Cheboygan Opera House adds a welcome site to those attending the various concerts, plays, and scheduled events.

Perennial Garden

The largest of the SGC garden commitments, the Perennial Garden is the showcase of the History Center with a variety of hostas, clematis, rose shrubs, and daylillies.

Rose Garden

The spectacular sight of blooming roses and climbing hollyhocks highlight the Rose Garden adjacent to the History Center. Sit a spell and take in the beauty of the garden now guarded against the voracious appetite of our local deer.

Washington Park

The white gazebo is the highpoint in front of the Cheboygan Chamber of Commerce. The annual plantings by the SGC Committee welcome visitors as they enter the Chamber learning about events and travel opportunities available in the area.
